Benefits for NCC Cadets or NSS Volunteers in Jamia Admission

Benefits of having N.C.C. Certificates

There are some benefits (as mentioned below) of having NCC certificates in Jamia Millia Islamia Admission Process:

(i) Relaxation to the extent of 5% marks in aggregate or in the subject concerned, as the case may be, will be given to N.C.C. cadets having the following N.C.C. Certificates:

  • “A” or “B” Certificate for admission to undergraduate programs.
  • “C” Certificate for admission to postgraduate Programs.

(ii) “A” or “B” Certificate holders admitted on this basis shall have to continue in the N.C.C. for at
least one year.

(iii) The relaxation of marks shall be permissible only on production of relevant certificate duly
verified by the N.C.C. Office of the Jamia Millia Islamia.

Benefits for N.S.S Volunteers

  • N.S.S. Volunteers, who have attended two 10-days Special Camps and one National Integration Camp or Republic Day Camp may be provided a relaxation of 2% marks in aggregate or in the subject concerned as the case may be.
  • The relaxation of marks shall be permissible on the production of relevant certificates duly verified by the N.S.S. Program Coordinator of the Jamia.

Exempted Courses from these Benefits

Benefit of having N.C.C. will not be applicable in these faculties and courses:

  1. Course comes under Faculty of Engineering & Technology
  2. Course comes under Faculty of Architecture & Ekistics
  3. Course comes under Faculty of Dentistry
  4. Part-Time Courses
  5. Evening Programs

What Does it Really Mean?

Having an NSS or NCC certificate does not guarantee a 2% or 5% seat reservation for any course at Jamia Millia Islamia. These certificates do not provide reservation in admission seats.

However, they can offer relaxation in the minimum eligibility criteria required for certain courses. In simpler terms, if you do not meet the required marks in your last qualifying examination, an NCC or NSS certificate may help you become eligible.

For example:
If a course requires a minimum of 50% marks in Class 12 and you have scored 45%, you may still be considered eligible if you hold a valid NCC certificate. This relaxation helps you meet the minimum academic requirement, but it does not guarantee admission or a reserved seat.
