Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) was established in 1920 by Maulana Mohammad Ali Jauhar, Shaikhul Hind Maulana Mahmud Hasan, Hakim Ajmal Khan, Shri A.M. Khwaja, Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad Ansari, Dr. Zakir Husain, etc. at Aligarh (Uttar Pradesh).

Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) invites candidates for their various programs offered at the postgraduate level. Postgraduate courses require candidates to hold a Bachelor’s Degree as a prerequisite, along with course-wise eligibilities. The admission is based on entrance test conducted by JMI for each course. The test is also followed by an interview in some of the courses.

The last date for the submission of application forms is 12st April. Application forms are available on the University’s website. They are to be filled and submitted online only. The seats indicated for each course are the maximum seats. The University may or may not fill all of them. About 50% of the seats are reserved for Muslim categories. Another 5% is booked for internal students.

Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) university conducts the exam on semester (odd and even) basis. Hence, the result is also declared semester wise on the official website of the university. Students may check their result at the university’s website by filling the credentials such as session, programme and enrollment number. Following are the steps to check the result:

  1. Visit the homepage of the university.
  2. In the main menu, click on the Examination Section.
  3. In the drop-down menu, click on “Results” section.
  4. Select desired course, session, enter roll number and click on “Submit”.

Jamia Millia Islamia University (JMI): Eligibility Criteria

Master of Arts [MA] (Islamic Studies) , Master of Arts [MA] (Arabic) & Master of Arts [MA] (Persian)

The candidates seeking admission must have a B.A. /B.Sc. or B.A./B.Sc./B.Com. (Hons.) Degree with at least 45% marks aggregate OR 50% marks in the subject concerned.Master of Arts [MA] (Development Communication) , Master of Arts [MA] (English) & Master of Arts [MA] (Hindi)

The candidates seeking admission must have a B.A. /B.Sc. or B.A./B.Sc./B.Com. (Hons.) Degree with at least 50% marks aggregate OR 50% marks in the subject concerned.

Master of Arts [MA] (Economics) & Master of Arts [MA] (Political Science)

The candidates seeking admission must have a B.A. /B.A. (Hons.) Degree in the subject concerned with at least 50% marks aggregate, OR he/she should have any B.A./B.Sc./B.Com. or B.A./B.Sc./B.Com. (Hons.) Degree with at least 55% marks aggregate.Master of Arts [MA] (Human Rights and Duties Education)

The candidate seeking admission must have a Bachelor’s Degree with at least 50% marks aggregate. Preference will be given to those candidate who hold a Postgraduate Diploma in Human Rights and Duties Education.

Master of Arts [M.A.] (Convergent Journalism) , Master of Arts [MA] (Mass Communication) & Master of Arts [MA] (Politics)

The candidate seeking admission must have a Bachelor’s Degree with at least 50% marks aggregate.Master of Arts [MA] (Social Work)

The candidate seeking admission must have one of the following qualifications:

  1. B.A. (Hons.) Degree in Social Work / Sociology / Psychology/Economics/ Political Science / History with at least 50% aggregate marks.
  2. B.A. Degree with any two of the following subjects: Sociology/ Psychology/Economics/ Political Science/History with at least 50% aggregate marks.
  3. B.Sc. (Hons.) Degree with at least 50% aggregate marks.

M.B.A. is a 2 year course in which the University provides the following specializations:

  • Executive* – Self-financed/Part-Time

Eligibility: The candidate must have a Bachelor’s Degree with at least 50% marks aggregate

Experience: The candidates seeking admission in M.B.A. (Executive) must also have at least 3 years of experience in Govt. or Private sector at executive level. Eligibility: The candidate seeking admission must have a B.Ed. /B.A., B.Ed. /B.Sc., or B.Ed. /B.El.Ed. Degree with at least 50% aggregate marks. Or, the candidate should have a D.El.Ed. with an Undergraduate Degree with 50% marks in both.

  • Special Education

Eligibility: The candidate seeking admission must have:

B.A. or B.Sc. (except vocational courses and B.Com.) Degree along with B.Ed. (Special Education) with at least 50% aggregate marks specializing in Visual Impairment or Learning Disabilities.OR

B.A. or B.Sc. (except vocational courses and B.Com.) Degree along with B.Ed. Degree with at least 50% marks aggregate, along with a one year course in Special Educations specializing in Visual Impairment or Learning Disabilities.OR

B.A. or B.Sc. (except B.A./ B.Sc. Vocational or B.Com.) and 50% marks in Diploma for Secondary School teachers of Visually Handicapped or Learning Disability from Institution recognized by Rehabilitation Council of India.LLM

The candidate seeking admission must have LL.B. Degree with at least 50% aggregate marks.Master of Physiotherapy [MPT] (Sports-Physiotherapy) , Master of Physiotherapy [MPT] (Orthopaedics) & Master of Physiotherapy [MPT] (Neurology)

M.P.T. is a 2 year course in which the University provides the following specializations:

  • Sports
  • Orthopedics
  • Neurology
  • Cardiopulmonary

Eligibility: The candidates seeking admission must have a Bachelor’s in Physiotherapy (4 ½ year course) with at least 50% aggregate marks.

Examination:

All candidates who seek admission to any of the JMI’s offered courses have to appear for an Entrance Test that is conducted by JMI. The entrance test may or may not be followed by an interview. The decided syllabus along with the admit cards of the registered students are made available on the University’s website.

The tests for most of the Postgraduate courses are conducted in the campus of Jamia Millia Islamia, Delhi. Although some of the courses have their entrance exam conducted in multiple cities. These courses are:

  • M.A. – Eco/English/History/Human Resource Management/ Social Work/ Political Science
  • M.C.A.
  • M.Com.
  • M.B.A. – Full Time/ International Business
  • M.Sc. – Biosciences/ Biotechnology/ Chemistry/ Physics

Jamia Millia Islamia University (JMI): How to Apply

LLM , MA & M.Sc

  1. Candidates can get the application form from http://jmi.ac.in/onlineadmissionform or Visit: http://www.jmicoe.in
  2. The candidates have to fill the form online.
  3. The candidate has to upload a scanned copy of their colored passport sized photo (.jpeg format with size not between 5KB and 20KB) and their signature (Blue/Black ink on white paper with size between 5KB and 10KB).
  4. After filling the form, the candidates have to pay a registration fee of Rs.700/- either by Net Banking/Debit/Credit card or the fees can be paid in cash at any Indian Bank branch by downloading the challan from the admission portal.
  5. The candidates are not required to upload any certificate etc.
  6. The following details are mandatory to be ready with the candidate before filling the form:
  • E-mail ID
  • Mobile Number
  • Scanned Photo
  • Scanned Signature
  • Credit/Debit Card (in case of online payment)

Note: When paying through debit/credit card, do not press back/refresh or close the window during the payment as it can cancel the payment.


Jamia Millia Islamia University (JMI): Admission Process

LLM , M.Ed & MA

  1. The selection is based on the rank/marks scored by the candidate in an Entrance Test conducted by JMI.
  2. The entrance test may or may not be followed by an interview.
  3. The candidates have to score at least 40% marks to be eligible for selection.
  4. The allotment of seats will be according to JMI’s Admission Procedure.
  5. A list of selected and waitlisted candidates will be available on JMI’s notice board as well as on their website.
  6. The selected candidates will be given a date to appear for the admission formalities.
  7. The selected candidates are to bring their admit cards of the entrance test, along with originals and self-attested copies of the following documents:
  • Proof of passing qualifying exam along with marksheets.
  • 10+2 or equivalent exam’s marksheet
  • Age proof (High School/Senior Secondary School’s marksheet)
  • Proof of entitlement to any reserved category (if applicable)
  • Character Certificate from the last attended institute
  • Certificate from M.B.B.S. doctor/Govt. Hospital certifying blood group
  • In case of gap period, certificate from class –1 gazetted officer to certify no indulgence in criminal behavior
  • Proof of address along with name and location of nearest police station
  • Certificate of No Objection by current employer (for evening/part-time/Sponsored courses)

Note: Self employed candidates have to show authentic evidence of self-employment.
