Documents Required for the Jamia Interview: What If Some Documents Are Not Available?

Every year, after the interview list is released, one question comes up again and again: “I don’t have my Character Certificate, TC/Migration Certificate, or Final Year Marksheet. Can I still attend the interview?”

If you’re facing the same situation, there’s no need to panic. Many students are in the same position because their colleges or universities have not yet issued these documents. Missing a few pending documents should not stop you from appearing for your interview.

The most important thing is to carry all the documents that are currently available with you and attend the interview as scheduled.

Compulsory Documents for the Interview

According to the interview instructions issued by Jamia Millia Islamia, candidates should carry the following documents in original along with one set of self-attested photocopies:

Some documents are required only for candidates who have claimed a particular category or reservation during the application process.

Important: If you have not applied under any of these categories, you do not need to carry these documents!

What If You Don’t Have the Character Certificate, TC / Migration, or Final Year Marksheet?

This is probably the biggest concern for many students. If your college or university has not yet issued any of the following:

Character Certificate
Transfer Certificate (TC)
Migration Certificate
Final Year or Last Semester Marksheet

You Should Still Attend Your Interview

These documents are often issued after the final results are declared, and many students receive them later. In such cases, they are generally submitted during the admission process when they become available.

However, you should carry every other document that is available with you.

Do Not Miss the Interview

The interview is one of the most important stages of the admission process. Missing it because a document is still pending can cost you your opportunity.

If your pending documents have genuinely not been issued by your institution, attend the interview with the documents you already have. If required, explain your situation politely to the admission officials.

A Few Important Tips

Carry both original documents and one set of self-attested photocopies.

Arrange your documents in a folder so they are easy to present.

Reach the interview venue well before the reporting time.

Keep checking the official JMI website for any department-specific instructions.
