The Department of Tourism and Hospitality Management, Faculty of Management Studies celebrated World Tourism Day on 27th September 2022.
This event provided a platform to showcase the talent, creativity and innovation of the students of JMI through various activity-based competitions based on Tourism Themes. The department organised Videography and photography competition with the theme – redefining tourism and Rangoli Making Competition in which the theme was Incredible India.
The department was decorated with colourful balloons and all guests were welcomed at the entrance. The rangoli competition proved to be a huge success. Students made various beautiful designs in the corridors of the department. The rangolis were adorned with diya and flowers. The centre of attraction was a Rangoli made with coloured rice grains. It showcased the beauty of the Indian state – Kerala.
Apart from this, there were food and beverage stalls organised by the students of the Hospitality Management. The food was from various parts of India – Kashmiri ’Kahwa‘ , North Indian Pao Bhaji, everyone’s favourite, the delicious Pani-puri and aloo chaat. There was a stall for refreshing hot coffee. And a mocktail stall which served lavishing drinks like classic lemon mojito, jeera and mint mojito, kala khatta cooler etc. They also served chilled cold coffee and desi boba drink!
In addition to the food stalls, there was a stall selling beautiful handmade crafts and decorative arts. The handicrafts were colourful and vibrant looking. There was a stall for Jamia merchandise too. They were selling t-shirts , keychains and mugs with the logo of JMI printed on them.
To add to the fun, there was a selfie booth which was like a cherry on the cake. It had a beautiful frame on the theme tourism and we could get our pictures clicked there. They also provided traditional Indian costumes like Taranga (a brightly colored scarf worn by Kashmiri women) , Kediya ( a short kurta worn by Gujarati men) and other vibrant pieces of clothing.
To sum up, it was a fun filled day with lots of excitement and craziness.
