Difference Between Jamia Distance Courses and Jamia Private Courses?

What is the main difference between Jamia’s Private and Distance Courses?


Jamia’s Private courses are mainly for the Women, Defense Personnel in Uniform and Jamia Employees, Urdu Medium Candidates and Physically Challenged.

There are lot of courses in JMI Private as compared to Distance Courses. After passing any engineering course, a candidate shall not be permitted to appear at any examination as a private candidate.

Whereas in Jamia’s Distance Course, anyone is allowed for enrollment. Candidates from any category can enroll at very minimum fees. There is no face-to-face interaction between teachers and students. There are less courses as compared to private courses.

Eligibility for Jamia Private Courses

(1) Women Candidates:

  • Those candidates, who have not studied in any recognized institution during the academic year at the end of which they wish to appear at the University Examinations.
  • Their application for admission to the Examination are supported by an Affidavit certifying the condition
  • Note: Foreign women candidates may be considered, in case they are holding a valid visa other than tourist visa.

(2) Teachers and other Employees of Jamia Millia Islamia:

  • The candidates must be a permanent whole-time teacher/ employee of the Jamia.
  • His/ her application for admission to the Examination is certified and recommended by the Head of the Department/ Institution/ Centre/ School/ Office concerned.

(3) Defence Personnel in Uniform:

  • Defence Personnel in Uniform (i.e. Officers, NCOs, JCOs, other Ranks, NonCombatants, enrolled in the Indian Army and corresponding ranks in the Air Force and the Navy), who are in active service.
  • Their applications for admission to the Examinations are certified and recommended by their respective Commanding Officers.

(4) Urdu Medium Candidates:

  • The candidates should have passed High School or a higher examination from a recognized Board/University with Urdu as an optional subject.
  • The candidates having acquired qualification equivalent to Class X and above from a Madrasa recognized by Jamia Millia Islamia

(5) Physically Handicapped Candidates:

  • Physically handicapped candidates will have to produce a certificate from a competent authority.

Eligibility for Jamia Distance Courses

  • Any Person with any category is eligible for Jamia Distance Courses.
  • There will be no entrance test in Distance except MBA & B.Ed.
  • Fees is very minimum.
  • No face-to-face interaction between students and teachers.
  • Mode of teaching in Distance courses is online since 2020.

Examination

Examination for both JMI Private and Distance courses is Offline, most probably in Jamia Campus.
